I have finally found my way back to the USO Online Community website. I am starting a personal goal of keeping the USO Community informed of life at the Pat Tillman Memorial USO. I hope to blog at least once a week, time permitting, and in time.....blogging everyday.
Currently I am on the night shift and find that no matter what shift I work, there is always work to get done and troops coming and going. Since our remodel in June we have seen an increase of service members at our center. On aver…

Having just lost my

temporary medical insurance has opened my eyes to this big problem. Heck, I can't even afford an

I lived through the Vietnam era and sadly watched 50 thousand of our troops die horrible deaths and for what? Only to turn tail and run for the hills 10 years later. I'm told by many Vietnam vets that we weren't "allowed" to win that war and I have to agree.
Unfortunately, the same damn thing is happening agian in the middle east. Just ONE GI that dies in vein is way too much to ask. We've got 5000 dead GI's already and that my friends is utterly unexceptable. Every second of every day, not only…

We are now in the first ripple phase of DH's deployment. He's gone till next month. So far so good. There are a few passwords that I forgot to get from him, but I can get those when I talk to him later.

ROME — Bob Hope’s Christmastime visits to troops in Korea and Vietnam; Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders tours in Iraq; NFL football players’ meet-and-greets in Afghanistan. They all have one thing in common: They were sponsored by the United Service Organizations.
While the USO probably is most famous for the celebrity tours it has sponsored throughout the years to entertain troops, its offices scatter…

The little girl instead asked that her friends bring her new books that could be donated to the USO’s United Through Reading program at the DFW Airport.
The program collects new books and then allows soldiers who are going overseas on tours of duty to read the books on camera in the “reading room.” The video recordings of the soldier reading and the book are then m…
